Packing is the most time-consuming task of a move – and the one where the most can go wrong. Broken crockery, overloaded boxes: with the right tips, you avoid all of this.

The right materials

Get sturdy boxes in various sizes, packing paper, bubble wrap for fragile items and strong tape. Always reinforce the bottom of boxes with tape, especially for heavy items.

Heavy at the bottom, light on top

Place heavy items at the bottom of the box and light ones on top. A box should not exceed 20 kilos – lift it to check. A box that is too heavy is hard to carry and may give way.

Tip: Pack room by room. This keeps an overview and, when unpacking, each box goes straight to the right room.

Label correctly

Note the destination room and contents on each box. Label on the side, not just on top – once stacked, you can no longer see the top.

Fill empty spaces

Fill gaps with paper or textiles so nothing shifts. Shake the box gently: if you hear rattling, there is too much air. You'll find boxes and materials in our shop.
