Relocating to Switzerland is exciting but comes with its own rules. From registering at your local Gemeinde within 14 days to the strict tenancy handover and the customs paperwork for your belongings, there is a lot to organise. As a moving company with 17 years of experience and an English-speaking team, we guide international clients through the whole process – from Zurich to every canton.

The move itself: what we handle

Whether you move within Switzerland or arrive from abroad, we organise the complete move: packing, transport, furniture assembly and, on request, the move-out cleaning with handover guarantee. Our team speaks German and English, so communication is never a barrier. You receive a binding fixed price after a free inspection – on site or by photo.

Registration (Anmeldung) and address change

Within 14 days of arriving, you must register at the residents' office (Einwohnerkontrolle) of your commune. You will need your passport, residence permit and rental contract. When you move within Switzerland, you also deregister at your old commune and register at the new one. We can point you to the right office; the registration itself you do in person.

Expat tip: Book the move-out cleaning with acceptance guarantee together with your move. Swiss handover standards are high, and this protects your deposit – especially if you are not familiar with local expectations.

Tenancy handover: avoid losing your deposit

Swiss tenancy handovers are strict. The flat must be returned clean and in good condition, or the landlord may keep part of your deposit (up to three months' rent). Our move-out cleaning comes with an acceptance guarantee: if the administration complains, we re-clean for free. This is one of the most valuable services for expats unfamiliar with local standards.

Customs and international moves

If you bring household goods from abroad, they usually enter Switzerland duty-free as removal goods, provided you register your residence and complete the customs form. We prepare the customs documents together with you and coordinate the clearance at the border. We handle moves between Switzerland and Germany, Italy, Austria and France in both directions.

What a move costs

Costs depend on volume, distance, floor and extra services. A local flat move starts from around CHF 760; international moves are quoted individually. You always receive a transparent fixed price in advance – no hidden costs. See our moving costs guide for details.
